Over the past 8 years of working with our amazing support group members, I’ve seen first hand how difficult it is for children suffering from these mental health struggles to participate in local recreational and competitive sports programs. They often express hesitation to even participate due to fear of being judged, fear of not being good enough or fear of simply feeling they are alone in their experiences. This fear often leads to many missed opportunities for growth, fun, friendships and even healing. Stories such as these are what have inspired me to start the Enso of Hope Youth Sports Program.
About The Program
Created for children grades 2 through 8 who struggle with anxiety, depression and OCD
Designed to help participants to build self confidence and athletic skills in a positive and inclusive environment where every child has the chance to thrive
Structured in 4 week sessions (1 hour per week) where we will focus on one sport per 4 week session
Sports offered: Tennis, basketball, soccer (we expect to expand our offerings as program demand dictates)
Each week of the session will focus on developing and practicing specific skills to help build confidence, with the goal of being able to participate in a fun, no-pressure, recreational game by the end of week 4.
Our goal is that through this safe and welcoming learning-based environment, participants will leave excited by the opportunity to graduate to our local town or school leagues and teams or perhaps enroll in additional lessons to continue to build their skills.
